Adopted CCSS 2010; state legislature mandated review; State Board adopted 'Tennessee Academic Standards' for Math & ELA in 2016 (effective 2017-18), using CCSS as the explicit starting point with revisions officials call 'significant enough to be new standards' — not repealed. ELA standards were revised again: after a two-year review (48,000 survey responses), the State Board approved changes to 80% of the ~450 ELA standards on final reading May 19, 2026; new ELA standards take effect 2029-30.
